- Today's pets are all a part of a big move to the city. After the loss of my last dog, and after giving my rescued kitties a home, I've move to the city so that my own future care will be easier in my elder age.
The old days included my horses,cows,goats,chickens,mousers,herd dogs,mallard ducks,white geese,parakeets,persian cats,one half bob cat, guniea pigs,rabbits,mice and so on and so forth, I went into the reptile world as a school project prior to retirement. Red earred-sliders(aquatic turtles) became the next educational program I did following each years salmon restoration project. The kids would tend to grieve in the K-3rd grade as they let go of the salmon fry, so I would bring my son's turtle to ease the void in the prior aquarium and would share it with the other classes. I also taught those things about how hard it was to care for a animal as if mother nature was taking care of it and that it could get rather expensive, so better to leave them in the wild as eventually one would probably lose interest or get too busy and forget to feed or cause suffering. They fed, cleaned and replaced water on a regular basis. I supplied the aquariums up to an 80 gallon that stood on the empty unused portion of our sink in the back of the classroom so the kids would wink at turtle and say hello, they drew pictures of a second turtle for a girlfriend for years then the time came to buy his mate. They were too young to mate and it was too warm in their aquarium with heater to desire mating so after I left the classroom and brought them home, we had babies the first year. Since then the two run different directions and have not decided to mate. Turtle wants to but August (the female doesn't) That's quite alright with me as I placed all the babies in good homes and that takes a lot of work. LOL! Patrice
- Where is your own piece of paradise?
- My own piece of paradise is located on the Western Coast in a little area called Mattole Beach, CA. A piece of paradise I experienced that isn't my own was experienced in the Caribbean while on a cruise ship. I love feeding the sea turtles and swimming in schools with them. They adopted me as kin and would swim up underneath and brush against my front as they swam by and are so friendly and sweet. Barbados was the best place for that on the most recent trip I took and Nick on the Hurricane (his boat) did a fabulous job of teaching us to have extreme fun with rum punch at the end. I highly recommend you visit him in Barbados as he's a surfing judge in Southern California once per year, you may also find him there. Tell him I sent ya. Love, Patrice

Been a while since I left an update on everyone's page, so I thought I would take some time and share what's been happening on PLP.
We have a really unique contest that I am hoping that people join in on. It's really not so much a contest as it is a way for us to create a calendar to share all of our pet pictures. Check it out by going here.
Ning has added a lot of new features, and some things they have taken away. Let's get to the fun part first! We can now add "system wide" apps that everyone can use. I'm still trying to figure out what would be fun, but, one thing I did add is a games page. The games page can be found under the Community menu and it's the last option -- or, just click HERE. If anyone has used the apps before, and has a recommendation, just let me know.
One of the things that was removed was our ability to invite other Ning friends to our community. If you are a member of other pet sites and want to invite your friends here, just log on to www.ning.com. You will see all of the sites that you belong to by clicking on "Social Networks".
Once you are on the page where PLP displays, select "Recommend" and you can then recommend PLP to your friends from other Ning sites or to our little home. We really appreciate it when you invite other folks to join our community. We only grow by word of mouth and appreciate the support.
Hello it has been a while since I have heard from you. I hope that things are well and that your fur babies are healthy and strong. Things here have been pretty good. There have been a few bumps in the road but nothing to bad. Can’t wait to here from you. Hugs, mandyglitter-graphics.com
Here's my attempt at creating new friendships and sharing a tidbit about me. I am going to have a baby cousin. She is due to be here November 23. I am so happy I cant wait.
