This is great, even they have a microchip, sometimes who finds them are trying to keep them. So, what are we doing in such situation? My Pepper would run every time a door opens.

Profile Information

Please share information about you and your pets. PLP is a social network for Pet Lovers and is NOT a marketing site. If no reference to pet/pet loving is made, your account will be declined.: I am a legal secretary and have been working in this field since I was 18 so it's been about 30 years (OMG!). I worked for one attorney for 28 years and he sudddenly passed away in early 2007. I lost my best friend, boss and mentor in one unbelievable day!

I now work in a bankruptcy law office and I might say that I am "busier than a one-armed paper hanger", as my husband would say!!!

I have been in rescue for 14 years, having started with an all breed rescue here in Toledo, OH. I belong to English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) (I LOVE all dogs but springers are my first love!!!) and National Brittany Rescue Adoption Network (NBRAN). We have fostered MANY dogs over the years and for me, it never gets easier letting them go. That being said, it is true that you have to give them up to a good home so you can save another! I have to keep reminding myself of that ALL THE TIME!

Currently, we own 7 (yes, SEVEN) dogs and are now down to one foster dog. I have two cats that I fostered 3 years ago (LONG story), but they did not like adoption events, didn't show well and never got adopted, so I guess they are here for life!

Where is your own piece of paradise?: My paradise is dogs. They give unconditional love, don't judge and are always there for you! My dream (winning the lottery dream) would be to open a doggie day care center! That way, I could play with dogs all day long!

I recognized something deep in his eyes… It was still there, but hard to recognize.
His plea for help, though it was growing dim -

Searching to find himself, to know where he fit in.

Uncertainly he hid his face, why had he come to

This new place?

I noticed the fear, I noticed the pain

The defeat that he showed - he had lived in vain

Through it all I saw what could be…

I vowed at that moment he would come live with me.

I hoped I could help him, that it wasn’t too late.

For it had been a long time since he had so much on his plate.

Would he ever remember a happier time?

Would the shine ever cement itself back in his eyes?

Today he stands tall, his head up high

His tail…It wags and I let out a sigh.

No one would notice his past and his pain.

No one would know how long it took to regain.

Today he runs and he plays with such joy,

His coat has grown out, he’s such a handsome boy!

There is still much to learn, and much to explore -

Everything is so new to him and he’s such a good boy!

Such a joy to share with him each and every day,

To help him remember those happier days.

Days before pain when somebody cared,

Long before he had been so scared.

Yet through this journey I have found a new friend -

One who will teach me, who will love me to the end.

Together we have found someone on whom we can depend

And I have promised him -- Never again

Kansas Over Ninety Springer Spaniels Relinquished by Breeder December 2, 2008 : 6:15 PM English Springer Rescue steps up to help dogs in need Press release from ESRA During the week commencing November 24, 2008, English Springer Rescue America Inc. (ESRA) was called into action by the State of Kansas Department of Animal Health. A commercial breeder was unable to continue to care for the animals at their facility due to the downturn in the economy, illness, and fewer puppy purchases than expected. The Department of Animal Health accepted 98 dogs relinquished by this breeder. Our member Mark Samuel (Kansas Coordinator) was contacted and, along with Judy Manley (English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association (ESSFTA) National Rescue Representative), sprang into action to move 66 Springer Spaniels into the care of ESRA. Mark and many volunteers from several states rallied to the challenge. ESRA is now busy caring for the health of these dogs and moving them into foster care homes all around the country. We are most grateful to our volunteers who have come forward to help these dogs. We celebrate their contributions as they are our heroes on the ground. The consequences of this organization receiving so many dogs at one time are that we need to raise a lot of funds, as each dog in ESRA's care receives vaccinations, worming, a heartworm test, a microchip implanted, grooming, and spay or neuter. The cost of care is in excess of $300 per dog. ESRA is accepting donations at the website, click here to access it. As more information about these dogs becomes available, it will be made accessible through ESRA and the website www.SpringerRescue.org – the ONLY official source of information about this remarkable rescue effort.

People who work animal rescue are some of the strongest, most
