Saved a Golden Retrevier Today

Today the freezing rain and sleet started. I declared it a day to stay IN THE HOUSE, ha! like that happened..I had to go to town. My hubby had to fix a section of fence that was damaged by the storm 2 days ago...So early start -get things done early and then stay in the house. Ha! Like that happened! So by lunchtime I'm headed back home and get this idea we should go to lunch in town..Say happy Christmas to our friends in town...So off we head to town..We get 1/2 mile up the road and there is a Golden standing in the middle of the Highway!! This is NOT a divided road. He was at risk!! From traffic in both directions!! I was driving and honking at the same time, hubby says Don't scare him!! Yes!! I want to scare him back to the grass!!! At the last possible second he darts to the grass and missed being destroyed by an inch!! I had both hands over my eyes!! Yes, I was the driver...I drove right off the road and into a driveway..Those people were not at home. I got out and shouted to the dog, he looked at me so I dropped down on all fours and told him Good Boy!! He flew to me, relived to see someone, anyone!! What a big puppy!! We got hold of him and he had a tag!! there was a phone number! Someone actually answered and came and got him!! The man told us - this pup was his 5 daughters' dog.. I told the man it was time to get him fixed. That this pup was a teenager now and would roam..Keep him IN!! I am so happy I was able to spare this family the pain of losing a pet at Christmas!! God really has a plan for all of us..Mine was NOT to stay indoors today..I had to get my Jeep back from the shop..We had a busy day.
