Pepper's Update 11/7

Dear Friends,
Pepper is STILL in the hospital. He went back on on Wednesday for fluids and more blood work. The full bloodwork testing his liver, kidneys and such came back fine, but the PCV test for his red blood cells was very low. This was what was wrong when I first brought him to the vet a month ago. If you remember they treated him and he was there for 5 days, came home and greatly improved. This was the case until he finished his medicine. Antibiotic and steroids, A few days after he stopped eating and that's why he ended up back in on Wednesday.
My vet is great BUT she is baffled by the fact that he is doing so well eating, purring acting normal etc..the only problem is his red blood cells are not coming up as fast as they should be. They are being produced... she does not think it's cancer because the other components made in the marrow are fine. She suggested we take him to a specialist..but it's out of the question because it would cost thousands of dollars.... we are not in a position do afford that.
She is not giving up hope that the steroids and the epogen shots and the antibiotics will "kick in" and I am PRAYING that she is right!
The first time he was in his counts were up and down and the other vet said that can happen. We would like to see them to keep going up but they can fluctuate.
PLEASE PLEASE PRAY!
This has been the week form HELL..on Thursday my father was admitted into the hospital with pneumonia and CHF. He has a history of CHF... and this past week not feeling well he didn't take his medicine for a few days and that contributed to his being admitted..not to mention the fact that he refused to go to the doctor earlier!
I am asking all to pray for them both... It's so hard for me having them both in the hospital.
In some ways it's harder to deal with him being in the hospital because he doesn't understand that I love him and he's there to get better. He is my Honey Man and I need him to get well and come home so I can show him how much love there is for him at home!!

Dear Marina, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Today will be a long day because I won't be getting an update. I am praying with all my heart and soul for the grace from God and the Saints in Heaven to heal him and send him home to me.
